Put on Your Running Shoes: Time Turner 2020 from Potterhead Running Club Announced
Virtual runs are a good way to get some exercise and achieve goals on your own time. There’s no trick to it! Just run and get your medal and have fun.
Potterhead Running Club announced the start of its Time Turner 2020 end-of-the-year event. All races from the 2020 year are open once again for participants. Whether you’re starting your 1,000th mile or your first mile, now is your chance to finish 2020 with a win. Seriously, you deserve it.
In case you’ve never participated in a virtual run, we’ll lay down the basics for you. First, you register with an organized running group, like Potterhead Running Club. Then you run. Well, in all honesty, you don’t even have to run if you don’t want to. You can walk, stroll, jog, sprint, bike, swim, or try a treadmill. As long as you go the distance, you’ve pretty much got it covered.
Here’s a video for the visual learners.
Time Turner 2020 hosts a variety of runs and distances for participants to choose from. Each virtual race supports a different charity, which means you’ll not only benefit yourself by getting exercise but also help a charity of your choice.
- Ironbelly 7K, supporting Random Acts
- Undesirable No. 2 (It’s a 10K), supporting Water1st
- Shrieking 6K, supporting One Tree Planted
- Locomotor 8K, supporting Team Rubicon
- Lightning Has Struck 5K, supporting All Star Code
- Platform: Year Seven, supporting Trans Lifeline
You can do as many or as few as you want. However, you might be tempted to try the Three Brothers Challenge. This race is equivalent to the combined total distance of all six races, a hefty 45.75K. We don’t want you to break down from absolute exhaustion attempting to run 45.75K all at once, so it may be best to break up this length over several sessions. That’s almost 30 miles, after all.
This year’s Throwback Medal comes from the 2014 Philosopher 5K race. The redesigned bright red medal is a perfect addition to any athlete’s collection. This race is not included in the total distance of the Three Brothers Challenge and is also an optional event.
Not only will the winner get a medal for their achievements, but shirts are also available for purchase. Proceeds from the purchases will also go to the selected charities.
Registration is now open for racers and costs $27 for each virtual race. The Time Turner 2020 event will be available through November 1, so register soon. All information can be found online on the Potterhead Running Club website. If you have any other questions, answers may be found on the FAQ page of the website.
