Johnny Depp Stans Furious over Resignation from “Fantastic Beasts” Franchise, Start Petition

One of the longest weeks of the year became even more controversial today when the news broke that Johnny Depp was asked to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald, the baddie from the Fantastic Beasts franchise. The response has been swift and loud, with a Change.org petition to bring him back as Gellert Grindelwald already surpassing 25,000 signatures at the time of publication.

Depp fans seem split on how they’re reacting to the news, with the “boycott the franchise” and the “hire him back” camps even butting heads. Fantastic Beasts fans, whether or not they are interested in Depp’s role in the film, are urging viewers to stand by the franchise for the sake of the other actors and crew members.
