Events Roundup: Valentine’s Day Dinners, Walking Tours, and Magical Movie Classes
Hello and welcome to a wonderful Events Roundup! Valentine’s Day is almost here, so if you haven’t planned anything yet, here are several opportunities to take advantage of. With that in mind, let’s get started.
Harry Potter London Walk
Brit Movie Tours is hosting a walking tour of London designed for the Harry Potter lovers of the world. Not only will you experience the wonderful city that is London, but you’ll also walk through several of the filming locations that were featured in the Harry Potter films. Have you ever wondered where that secret visitor’s entrance to the Ministry of Magic was really hiding? Well, wonder no more! Starting on February 6 at 2:00 p.m. GMT, the event is about two and a half hours long. Attendees will begin the tour at the Westminster tube station (at the ticket hall, next to the Information Point by Exit 4). Tickets are £10 for children and £15 for adults.
Valentine’s Weekend Wizard-Themed Dinner
Take your special witch or wizard out for a romantic evening. Why? Because you love them and you both deserve a wonderful evening full of love and Harry Potter. The Bennet-Curtis House in Grant Park, Illinois, is hosting a Valentine’s weekend wizard-themed dinner. But dinner isn’t the only thing you’ll have to enjoy. Get Sorted into your Houses, challenge yourselves with a scavenger hunt, solve riddles, win a trivia contest, and so much more. Specialty drinks and food will be on the menu. But don’t worry if you’re vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free because they have options for particular diets. COVID regulations and restrictions are in place, so check the event website for more details. Dinner will be served on February 13 and 14 during different reservation times. Tickets start at $45. Check out the event website for information about dates, times, and COVID restrictions.
Virtual Wizard School
BFI Families is hosting an online event for kids who love to express themselves creatively. Does your child have a dream to grow up and star in movies? Consider this their first stepping stone to stardom. During the three-day virtual workshop, kids will learn the secrets of the trade, get to ask all sorts of questions, and get behind-the-scenes details about their favorite fantasy films. They will also have an opportunity to write and act in their own Harry Potter–inspired films. The workshop will run from February 15 to February 17, with each session starting at 10:00 a.m. GMT. All classes will be held on Zoom, and a link will be provided by email before classes start. Kids between the ages of eight and eleven are invited to join. Tickets are on sale starting at £40 per child.
An Evening with Fiona Shaw
Fiona Shaw, who played Aunt Petunia throughout the Harry Potter films, is sitting down for a conversation about her stunning acting career. The live-streamed event is hosted by How To Academy, and Shaw will be in conversation with journalist Matthew Stadlen. The two will explore Shaw’s incredible array of stage, movie, and TV credits. The entire interview will be online on February 20 at 6:30 p.m. GMT (10:30 a.m. PST). Tickets for the live event and rewatch opportunities are on sale now, starting at £15.
PotterCrawl 2021
The third annual WPB PotterCrawl is upon us! Potter fans who are 21 and older can let loose and enjoy what West Palm Beach, Florida, has to offer. Tickets will not only get you in the door but will also get you free drinks, entrance to the costume contest, Harry Potter–themed entertainment, and so much more. The best part is that the winner of the costume contest will receive cash and prizes worth $1,000. Be sure to dress in your best robes and have fun (responsibly, of course). Tickets for entry are $30 per person at the door or $10 if you buy online. PotterCrawl 2021 will begin on February 20 at 7:00 p.m. and go on long into the night. Guests will start the evening in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida, at 300 Clematis St.
