The Philosopher’s Scone: Glasgow Café to Offer “Harry Potter”-Themed Afternoon Tea Menu
Potter fans based in or near Glasgow, Scotland, no longer have to look at Edinburgers with envy since they will soon be able to order their own Potter-themed afternoon tea to enjoy at home. Starting February 26, Glaswegian Muggles who are looking to enjoy a quaint afternoon tea can soon order a host of Potter-themed pastries from a local café called the Sweet Tart.
Exclusively offered on itison, a local daily deals website based in Scotland (similar to Groupon in the United States), Glasgow-based tearoom the Sweet Tart is offering a menu for the tea-loving Potter fan to enjoy at home. Tea and cake aficionados can order from a list of afternoon tea staples with adorable Potter-themed adornments. Some mouth-watering menu items include “the boy who lived éclair,” the “Platform 9 3/4 empire biscuit,” and pumpkin pastries! However, there is one item that deserves your attention based on the pun-tastic name alone, and that is the “Philosophers Scone.”
For those Potter fans who don’t enjoy puns, the “Bertie Botts inspired tea bag” will elicit either delight or curiosity. Are we to believe that this assortment of teas will provide the same intrigue and unpredictability as a bag of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans? While it will be fun to speculate if the café would include an earwax-flavored tea bag, it wouldn’t be very wise for the sake of repeat customers. Your average patron would much rather watch someone mistakenly taste earwax than do so themselves.
The Sweet Tart’s Harry Potter-themed afternoon tea menu is available from February 26 to March 27. Any orders must be booked 48 hours in advance, with the last calls on March 24. The menu items must be reserved on itison and can only be picked up on Fridays and Saturdays between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. GMT. Local delivery can be arranged as well. If you’re in or around Glasgow, you’ve been handed a nice weekend afternoon inside.
For the rest of you who do not currently have this wonderful option, why not try your hand at creating your own wizarding world treats? It’ll still be a nice weekend afternoon inside, just not as easy.
Which item from the Sweet Tart’s Harry Potter-themed afternoon tea menu would you most like to try? If you could choose from the tearoom’s Bertie Bott-inspired tea, which strange or outlandish flavor would you most like to taste? Let us know in the comments.
