Tom Felton Is Still a Wizard at Heart: “Any Chance to Be a Malfoy Again Would Be Greatly Accepted”
Tom Felton continues to be a delight to Harry Potter fans all around the world. He has been watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in small segments with fans on Instagram Live since December and even hosted a live TikTok screening of the film in March. Felton recently sat down with People to chat about all things Potter as well as the new Harry Potter New York store and revealed something that is surely going to delight fans.
Felton loved being part of the Harry Potter franchise and has very fond memories of his time working on the films. In fact, he loved it so much that he told People he would go back in a heartbeat. Yes, if Felton is ever asked to join another Potter film, he would most definitely do it. Can somebody please write the Malfoys into the next Fantastic Beasts film? Or better yet, can we get a film that focuses just on the Malfoy family?
Felton said that he would jump at the opportunity to portray any of the Malfoy family members.
If you’re asking me, [‘W]ill I dye my hair blonde again to be Draco[?’], abso-bloody-lutely. Either [him or Lucius]. I’ll play Draco’s kid if you really want! Any chance to be a Malfoy again would be greatly accepted.
We don’t know about you, but that is music to our ears. Felton admitted that he feels a sense of ownership over the character of Draco.
I do feel if someone else played [Draco], I’d be slightly possessive, going, ‘Hang on.’
Like most of us, Felton has a hard time believing that Sorcerer’s Stone will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in November, saying that it made him feel a bit old, but he also pointed out that the cast has aged pretty well, especially Rupert Grint.
I was speaking to Rupert [Grint], Daniel [Radcliffe] and Emma [Watson] separately the other day and [said], ‘Twenty years, can you imagine that?’ First of all, they all look the bloody same, literally. Rupert looks exactly the same.
He added that they are all a bit astonished at how popular the franchise still is to this day. Another thing that hasn’t changed is the friendships he forged with his castmates while working on the films. He mentioned keeping in regular contact with Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), and James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley). Apparently, the former Weasley twins kick his butt at golf on the regular.
Felton also expressed his excitement over the new Harry Potter New York store that opened on June 3. He hasn’t visited the store in person yet but attended a virtual tour and was impressed by the attention to detail and the scale of the space. The things he seemed most excited about are “the extended range of Slytherin swag that I can now cover my office in and an unlimited source of butterbeer.” He also joked that he feels he should have his very own chair at the butterbeer bar. We would not object to that.
