Party Like You’re Infested with Wrackspurts: Central Florida Witches Ball to Be Held in October to Benefit Charity
For those living in Chuluota, Florida, who are looking to add a bit of mysticism to their parties this coming Halloween season, you need not look further than the Central Florida Witches Ball.
On October 16, if you’d like to party the night away with your fellow like-minded witches and wizards, Tea & Tarot Events, in association with Isle of Valhalla, Central Florida’s newest fantasy-themed outdoor event venue, will be holding the inaugural Central Florida Witches Ball in Chuluota. Aiming to combine a themed ball with a Renaissance festival, the organizers are promising such staples as drinking, dancing, and costumes alongside artist performances, vendors, and food typical of a Ren fest.
On top of that, the event is also teasing a performance called Saturday’s Song, utilizing professional actors all local to the Central Florida area for “song, dance, aerial acts, magic, and more.” It seems that the ball will be hosting an initiation ceremony of new members into the Mystical Society of Witches & Warlocks, wherein the initiates will have to test their abilities against a potential threat that lurks in the shadows of the gathering.
So attendees can expect a party, a Ren fest, and a show. This seems like an incredibly fun event that shouldn’t be missed. For those in northern or southern Florida, perhaps you can make a trip of it and visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort on the same weekend. Fingers crossed that Universal Orlando brings back the “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” show.
If that wasn’t enough, the event is benefitting a charity called Transfiguring Adoption, which aims to assist foster parents to better engage with the children they are fostering. According to Transfiguring Adoption, 100% of all foster and adoptive children have suffered some sort of trauma, and not all parents are equipped to help them with that trauma. The charitable organization develops ways in which parents can use media like movies, TV, music, and books to help children open up about any past traumatic events. Sound familiar? It should. Harry was in a similar situation as an adoptee of the Dursleys. Of course, Transfiguring Adoption is totally aware of this and has already built out discussion guides for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The event will run from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., giving all the witches in attendance enough time to head home to prepare for the witching hour. Tickets are available for purchase now. From now until August 1, you can get a special price of $75. After that, general admission tickets are priced at $95. There are also VIP options available for those who want a bit extra.
If you’re unable to help out financially, but would still like to assist this fantastic event in some way, you can volunteer. Locals close by the Orlando, Florida, area or the overall Central Florida region can sign up to help set up the event or assist during the night of the event. Those who volunteer for a minimum of five Sundays in setting up the event will be given free admission to the Witches Ball.
