Shopping Mall Holds Charity “Harry Potter” Day to Help Children’s Hospital
Braehead Shopping Centre in Glasgow, Scotland, is holding a fabulous Harry Potter Day in a bid to raise money for the Royal Hospital for Children. The charity event is taking place between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. today, Friday, July 30, with lots of fun activities. You get to experience magic in the mall, and much-needed funds can be raised for life-changing projects and services for children in the hospital and their families.
Braehead’s central atrium will present visitors with arts and crafts activities for children who will get a chance to make a pair of round glasses and a tie much like the ones the Boy Who Lived wears, along with a Hogwarts bookmark and fortune-teller board. Families and friends can have their photographs taken in front of a green screen to make it look like they paid a visit to Hogwarts. No need to prepare owl treats – the images will be sent to you via email.
In addition, a prize draw will be held with a host of Harry Potter items as prizes. Participants are asked to make a minimum of a £1 donation for each activity to contribute to the money raised for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Events, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, shared his excitement:
We can’t wait to host our Harry Potter Day at Braehead and look forward to bringing the spirit of Hogwarts to the shopping centre. We are incredibly grateful to Braehead for their continued support and generosity. We rely entirely on fundraising and donations to fund our life-changing hospital projects to make sure that young patients and their families receive the extra special care they deserve. Funds raised through our magical Harry Potter Day activities will help to continue our charity-funded play and events programme, family support services and well[-]being support for NHS staff, giving children and their families the best possible hospital experience.
Braehead’s community development manager, Lydia Brown, added her thoughts:
We’re really looking forward to a spell-binding [sic] time at the Harry Potter Day. And we hope everyone will join the fun by coming along to Braehead dressed in Harry Potter costumes on the day, and it will be like a real Hogwarts’ [sic] get-together. Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity do fantastic work and are well worth supporting.
If you can, go join in on the fun today, donate, and help raise much-needed funds.
