The Funniest Scene from Each Film

The Harry Potter films are filled with fantastically memorable moments. The filmmakers did a wonderful job of bringing the magic captured in the books to the screen. Since these movies are filled with a plethora of funny moments, we thought we would compile the top scene from each film into one list.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Dudley’s Tail

After everything the Dursleys put Harry through, we thoroughly enjoyed watching them get a bit of comeuppance. What made this act even better was the fact that it all happened when Dudley was eating what was presumably the first birthday cake Harry ever received. Seeing this played out on screen, combined with the Dursleys’ reactions, made it even better than what was in the books. Plus, it immediately endeared Hagrid to the audience.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Lockhart’s Memory Wipe

This was so much better in the film than in the book. We don’t know how Lockhart is affected by the spell in the book until after Harry saves Ginny. However, in the movie, the spell leads directly to his memory loss, resulting in one of our favorite Lockhart quotes: “This is an odd sort of place, isn’t it? Do you live here?”

The innocence and naïve delivery combined with Ron’s facial expressions make this scene fantastic.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Ron’s Nightmare

Ron’s spider-related nightmare was an additional scene that wasn’t in the books. His arachnophobia is pretty well known and is portrayed wonderfully here. Plus, we love how Harry just goes along with it.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Ron’s Dance Lessons

McGonagall trying to teach the Gryffindors how to waltz using Ron as an example is great. McGonagall’s calmness combined with Ron’s obvious discomfort and Harry’s, Fred’s, and George’s amusement make this a hilarious and entertaining moment. I’m so glad this scene was added to the films.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Umbridge’s Punishment

We love this scene in both the movie and the book. It was amazing to see Umbridge getting some of the payback she so deserved. Plus, it was a fantastic use of visual effects, which portrayed this bright and joyous scene perfectly. The happiness the characters felt was infectious and still makes us smile every time we watch the film.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Felix Felicis

Harry on Felix Felicis is absolutely hilarious. His drunken demeanor when he completely ignores Hermione and Ron’s suggestions and goes down to Aragog’s funeral instead is great to watch. Daniel Radcliffe completely kills it in this scene and adds a level that was hard to capture in the book.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1: The Seven Potters

This was a fun chapter to read but even better to see on screen. This sequence really allows Daniel Radcliffe to shine as he spectacularly takes on the mannerisms of the various characters who transform into him. It’s great seeing everybody’s reaction to becoming Harry, from Fleur’s “Bill, look away, I’m hideous” to “Wow, we’re identical” from Fred and George.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2: McGonagall

The moment where McGonagall brings the statues to life in the final film is a stunning scene to watch. Her line, “I’ve always wanted to use that spell,” diffuses the tension and adds some comic relief to an otherwise serious moment.
