The global release date of April 15, 2022, has been moved from an original July 2022 release date. The film was initially scheduled for release in July due to having to find a replacement for Johnny Depp’s character of Grindelwald. However, to the delight of Fantastic Beasts fans, the film will be ready to screen in April instead after Mads Mikkelsen was brought in to star as Grindelwald.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore follows the success of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, released in 2016, and Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald, released in 2018.
