Brush Up on Chess for a Journey Through the Trapdoor This Month in “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite”
The capture of Gareth Greengrass has set into motion the peeling of many onion-like layers to the plot of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. To hinder the Unforgivable and block its resources, the team will need to end the Calamity. Greengrass believes the key to the Calamity is Ministry of Magic official Grim Fawley, a wizard who recently disappeared after years of searching for his missing wife. While the team searches for Fawley, Hermione is on her own side mission to discover the truth behind the leader of the Unforgivable, someone named Theus.
In the meantime, while we’re attempting to understand all the layers of the convoluted plot, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game developer Niantic has released the calendar of events for this month. Well, not all the events were announced. Niantic has mysteriously left out the week of Halloween, which it promises to share “later.” At the very least, the devs kicked off October with a spooky event.
Witches and wizards had to maintain a steely demeanor in the face of Dark Arts-themed Traces. During the Severe and Dark Arts Spotlight event, players saw increased encounters with the Swooping Evil, Tank of Brains, Grawp, and Weasleys’ Flying Car. This event started on September 30 at 11:00 a.m. PDT and ended on October 4 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.
From feeling slightly uneasy to feeling nostalgic, Into the Fire Brilliant Event Part 2 commenced immediately following the conclusion of the last event and is currently taking place right now. Beginning with Into the Fire Brilliant Event Part 1 in September, the team began restoring Ron’s memories of his fourth year, allowing us to relive the events of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. For the second part of this Brilliant event, players must seek the Brilliant Foundables associated with the Brilliant Triwizard Maze such as the Brilliant Blast-Ended Skrewt and the Brilliant Welsh Green from Encounters, Transfigured Draco Malfoy from completing Tasks, and Amos Diggory from Wizarding Challenges. Additionally, unlocking Brilliant Portkeys provides players with the Starting Cannon. Into the Fire Brilliant Event Part 2 ends on October 11 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.

At that point, witches and wizards will be able to take a brief break before going through the trapdoor for this month’s Community Day, which will strangely take place on a weekday. Starting on October 13 at 12:00 a.m. and ending on October 14 at 11:59 p.m. local time, we’ll be encountering Foundables from the Chess Chamber Registry Page, which will include the following:
- Increased sightings of Albus Dumbledore, Young Hermione Granger, Young Ron Weasley, Young Harry Potter, and Young Neville Longbottom
- Special 1 km Portkey that rewards the Wizard Chess Queen
- Guaranteed Flying Key from Wizarding Chambers when using Legends of Hogwarts Runestones
- Increased Wizarding XP, Challenge Family XP, and Energy Rewards from completing Wizarding Challenges
After climbing out from the dark depths beneath, it’s time for our monthly trip to the past. Starting on October 15 at 11:00 a.m. PDT and ending on October 18 at 11:00 a.m. PDT, players will be able to search for special Portmanteaus and Fragments during the 1920s Wizarding World Convergence event.
And lastly, for now, we’ll be able to relive the events of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Starting October 18 at 11:00 a.m. PDT, the team will be working to help Ron recover his memories of his fifth year at Hogwarts for Burning Day Brilliant Event Part 1. The event will end on October 22 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.
After that, we’ll just have to wait and see. Considering it’s Halloween, we can only hope that it’s going to be a relatively fun event that will be appropriately spooky for the beloved holiday. Be sure to check back with MuggleNet for any updates.
