First up, we’ve got an award winner to announce! We told you about the nominations for the International Emmy Awards, and we’re excited to reveal that David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jr.) came out on top and won the award for Best Performance by an Actor. He was nominated as a result of his already award-winning performance as Dennis Nilsen in ITV’s crime drama Des.
Tennant is moving on from this award; we’ve got a trailer for his latest series for you to watch next. Around the World in 80 Days is a show based on the classic novel of the same name by Jules Verne. He will play the leading role of Phinneas Fogg, a man who tries to travel around the globe in 80 days after a bet with his friends. The series will feature eight episodes and will premiere on January 2, 2022. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
We’re heading to the UK for the next announcement. All those with access to Netflix UK will be able to rewatch Imelda Staunton‘s (Dolores Umbridge) stunning performance in Gypsy. A recording of the West End production is now available to watch on the platform. The musical is based on the life of Gypsy Rose Lee, a famous striptease artist from the 1950s. Staunton stars as Momma Rose in the production. Peter Davison (Doctor Who), Gemma Sutton (Cilla), and Lara Pulver (Sherlock) join her in the cast. Are you hoping to watch it for the first time, or will you be rewatching it?
Next up, we’ve got a challenge for all DC fans! The Peacemaker’s Proving Ground was created at San Diego Comic-Con Special Edition. The obstacle course was available for all to have a go in preparation for the release of the upcoming DC series Peacemaker. The show will act as a sequel to this year’s The Suicide Squad, although it will focus mainly on the adventures of Peacemaker. Freddie Stroma (Cormac McLaggen) will be featured in the show as Vigilante, a trained hand-to-hand fighter and specialist marksman. Did you check out the obstacle course?
