Events Roundup: 17th Annual Yule Ball and “Potted Potter”
There are lots of Harry Potter–inspired events taking place as we head into 2022. Celebrate the New Year with the 17th annual Yule Ball, take in the sights of London on a Harry Potter photoshoot, or experience the magic of all seven Harry Potter books at a performance of Potted Potter.
17th Annual Yule Ball with Harry and the Potters
Celebrate the New Year in Potter style and take part in the 17th annual Yule Ball. It’s taking place online from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET and will feature music from Harry and the Potters, Tonks and the Aurors, Lauren Fairweather, Avery Marshall, Jason Anderson, Siriusly Hazza P, the Swedish Shortsnouts, Luna (Not) Lovegood, Proma Khosla, Olivia Dolphin, MOROZ, the Dead Ringers, and more.
Tickets can be bought online. They cost $15 per person, and $5 from every ticket sold will be donated to the charity Fandom Forward.
If you can’t make it on the night, ticket holders will have access to the entire broadcast after the show has been aired.
Pottercamp
Head to Trinity Church in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, for Pottercamp, taking place on January 2 from midday to 4:00 p.m.
Kids can enjoy the first two (or maybe three) Harry Potter films in the youth room, and adults can join the crafting in Fellowship Hall, where you’ll be making wands, dragon eggs, Snitches, flying keys, and more. Lunch will be served at noon, and popcorn and drinks will be available for the afternoon.
Tickets are free, and you can register for them online.
Harry Potter Photoshoot in London
Taking place every day until January 5, you can have a Harry Potter–style photoshoot while taking in all the iconic landmarks throughout London, England.
It’s a great way for Potter fans to explore England’s capital city. You’ll start at Westminster and visit iconic movie locations from the films, including Diagon Alley, the Leaky Caudron, and Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. Over the two hours, a professional photographer will give you your own private photoshoot at these cinematic landmarks, and within 48 hours of your photoshoot, 30 to 40 high-resolution digital photos will be uploaded for you to download.
A typical itinerary consists of the following locations: Trafalgar Square, Cecil Court, Palace Theatre, King’s Cross Station, Leadenhall Market, Millenium Bridge, and London Bridge.
Tickets cost £82 ($110) and can be booked online.
Potted Potter
Experience the magic of all seven Harry Potter books in 70 minutes at a performance of the Harry Potter parody Potted Potter, created by two-time Olivier Award–nominated actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner.
The show is now playing at the Magic Attic at Bally’s Las Vegas in Nevada and at Hobby Center in Houston, Texas, between December 7 and January 2. It will then play at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts in Denver, Colorado, between January 4 and 9. Tickets can be booked online.
If you’re hosting an upcoming magical event, you can submit it to be included in a future Events Roundup by sending all relevant information to submissions@staff.mugglenet.com.
