Take a First Look Back As “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Returns to Broadway
It has been a long journey back to the stage amid the COVID-19 pandemic for the cast and crew of the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but its official opening night is here! To mark the occasion, multiple news outlets, including Playbill and Broadway Direct, have shared a first look at the play – now being performed as only one part.
As mentioned by Playbill, Cursed Child has been the recipient of five Tony Awards, including one for Best Play. The article also lists the production’s current cast.
The Broadway production stars James Snyder as Harry Potter and Diane Davis as Ginny Potter alongside James Romney as their son Albus Potter; David Abeles as Ron Weasley, Jenny Jules as Hermione Granger, and Nadia Brown as their daughter, Rose Granger-Weasley; and Aaron Bartz as Draco Malfoy and Brady Dalton Richards as his son, Scorpius Malfoy.
Rounding out the company are Oge Agulué, Kevin Angulo, Chelsey Arce, Quinn Blades, Michela Cannon, Will Carlyon, Lauren Nicole Cipoletti, Judith Lightfoot Clarke, Ted Deasy, Kira Fath, Stephanie Gomérez, Steve Haggard, Ben Horner, Edward James Hyland, Jax Jackson, Jack Koenig, Spencer LaRue, Rachel Leslie, Sarita Amani Nash, Alexandra Peter, Dan Piering, Kevin Matthew Reyes, William Rhem, Antoinette Robinson, Stephen Spinella, Tom Stephens, Maya Thomas, and Karen Janes Woditsch.
In previews, one fan noted that some of the changes in the one-part play included a greater emphasis on the relationship between Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. We’re curious to know if that will carry over to performances of the play now that it has reopened.
