Potterhead Running Club Announces Function of a 5K
Potterhead Running Club (PHRC) is back with another virtual running event for charity, and it just so happens to be the first event of the 2022 PHRC season. This time, it’s Function of a 5K, inspired by the age-old question regarding the function of a rubber duck.
Registration for Function of a 5K is now open and will continue until February 14 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The registration fee is $27 and includes an “adorable three-inch medal featuring that most mysterious of [M]uggle artifacts…the rubber duck,” a “custom sublimated ribbon” with an orange and yellow rubber duck print on it, and a “personalized digital bib.” The ribbon and medal are shown in an Instagram post from PHRC, while the second image shows a navy-blue T-shirt for the event, available for an additional fee. (For those hoping to purchase one of these shirts at a later date, PHRC notes, “These shirts will not be available during the year-end Time Turner event, so get your orders in before February 14!”)

This time around, PHRC’s spotlight charity partner is To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), and the organization describes its mission as follows:
To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and invest directly into treatment and recovery.
Additionally, PHRC has designated February 6, Arthur Weasley’s birthday, as the optional “run day” for the Function of a 5K event. Since the event is fully virtual, participants do not need to run on that date, although they can if they choose to do so. PHRC stresses that participants don’t need to run the five-kilometer distance at all, in fact:
You can run, walk, jog, roll, row, dance, or saunter. Where? Do it in your neighborhood, on the treadmill, or on your favorite trail. When? Maybe a Monday night, a Thursday morning, or a Saturday afternoon. Everything is up to you!
