Eddie Redmayne Wins Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for “Cabaret”
The Laurence Olivier Awards – the major theater awards given for excellence in professional theater in London – were held today, April 10, and Fantastic Beasts actor Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) took home the Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as the Emcee in Cabaret. This is the second Olivier Award of his career, following the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in Red in 2010.
A full list of the winners was published by the Guardian. Cabaret also won Best Musical Revival, and Redmayne’s costar, Jessie Buckley, won Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Sally Bowles. These were among seven awards won by or in relation to work on the production of Cabaret at the 2022 Olivier Awards.
As we previously reported, also at the Olivier Awards as presenters were Tom Felton and Noma Dumezweni, the latter of whom originated the role of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London and won an Olivier Award for her performance.
Congratulations to all the winners at the 2022 Olivier Awards! You can watch the ceremony embedded below.
