MinaLima to Bring Immersive Enchantment to Moat Brae This Summer
MinaLima, the company responsible for over 20 years of graphic design magic in the Wizarding World, is at it again. The talented duo Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima have previously lent their bewitching style to the design of several popular children’s stories in their Illustrated Classics series. This summer, they’ll take their art a step forward to create a more immersive experience.

Enchanted Journeys: Adventures in Storytelling is an interactive exhibition featuring some of the world’s most beloved children’s stories. Children’s literature lovers will be treated to an immersive sensory exploration of timeless tales, such as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, and Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. Fans of Neverland will not be disappointed either. The exhibition will not only include Peter Pan, by Scottish novelist and playwright J.M. Barrie, but will also even take place in the setting that inspired the tale.
Opening in July during VisitScotland’s Year of Stories 2022, Enchanted Journeys: Adventures in Storytelling invites visitors to experience the magic on the grounds of Moat Brae, Scotland’s National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling. Located in Dumfries, South West Scotland, Moat Brae was home to childhood friends of J.M. Barrie. Barrie, who would visit often, described the garden there as an “enchanted land.” It was also where he drew inspiration for Peter Pan. MinaLima, whose collaboration gave us the graphic universe of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, among others, furthers the legacy of enchantment on these historic grounds.
Dr. Simon Davidson, Moat Brae’s center director, praised MinaLima in a recent interview, calling their style “stunningly imaginative and utterly unique.” He went on to give further detail about what guests will be experiencing this summer.
The exhibition itself will transform large areas of the house into a netherworld of ever[-]changing, well-loved literary landscapes using MinaLima’s own distinctive style.
He also expressed that an exhibition by the well-renowned MinaLima would almost certainly draw international attention to Dumfries, an advantage to the region in both profit and pride. “I also hope it will give the people of Dumfries and Galloway a new cultural asset they can be proud of,” he added.
This certainly gives us a reason to mark our calendars! Which classic tale are you most excited to see MinaLima bring to life? Let us know in the comments.
