QuidditchUK Starts 2022–2023 Season
QuidditchUK ended the 2021–2022 season recently with the British Quidditch Cup, and the new season starts this weekend.
Like last year, QuidditchUK will start the 2022–2023 season with the first Community League Fixture. It will be held on July 2 in Salford, England, and will be a one-day Muggle quidditch event played in a round-robin format with seeded divisions based on the results from last year. Last year, however, one of the Community League Fixtures had to be canceled, and the gameplay and impact had to be changed. Teams that weren’t able to attend the community fixtures last year have been divided between the divisions.
Ten teams decided to attend this year and were divided into three divisions. The schedule of games is already published. One of the participants is the Werewolves of London Firsts, who won the European Quidditch Cup recently.
QuidditchUK hasn’t announced any other tournaments yet. There is a possibility that QuidditchUK will have a similar plan as last year. That means we could wait for two other Community League Fixtures in summer and autumn. QuidditchUK didn’t mention for which region the first Community League Fixture is being held, but according to the teams, we could suggest Southern England.
Despite the new season starting soon, the last one isn’t all finished. The QuidditchUK Awards from the past season should be given soon. QuidditchUK canceled the event with the awards ceremony on June 11 because it wouldn’t be able to run an event of high quality with a busy summer calendar. Instead, the awards ceremony should have been livestreamed on June 29, but it was postponed due to technical difficulties.
