New Wizarding World Shop to Arrive at Hamburg Central Station
King’s Cross may have the Hogwarts Express, but it’s not the only magical train station anymore. On August 1, a new Wizarding World shop will be coming to Hamburg Central Station courtesy of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and the German book retail company Thalia.
The Wizarding World Shop by Thalia will be located in the lobby of Hamburg Central Station. The shop will boast two floors and over 2,300 square feet, stuffed generously with Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts merchandise and exclusive offerings. Opening day will mark the shop as the first, and currently only, Wizarding World shop in mainland Europe.
There will be quite a few special events to mark the momentous magical occasion before the doors even open. Opening day will start off at 11:30 a.m. with a performance of the Wand Dance, featuring the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Hamburg. According to an email sent to subscribers, tickets to the play, which is held at the Mehr! Theater am Grossmarkt, will also be sold at the shop at a special 25% discount through August 31.
The grand opening will also include raffles, games, and other opportunities to win prizes, such as the limited Blu-ray Steelbook of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Themed backdrops will be available for photo opportunities.
A costume contest will also be included in the day’s activities, and guests are invited to come dressed in their wizarding best. Costumed participants can post a picture in front of the shop with the hashtag #WirZaubernHamburg and tag @warnerbrosde, @thalia_buchhandlungen, and @hptheaterde. The first-place prize is a life-size Dobby figure. The second- and third-place prizes are tickets to Cursed Child and a surprise goody bag, respectively.
