Review: Loungefly’s San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Zouwu Bag
Loungefly is a wonderful place to look for wearable fandom merchandise. The officially licensed products are often good quality, colorful, and uniquely designed. MuggleNet had the awesome opportunity to check out the Loungefly booth while we were at San Diego Comic-Con this year — we got word that there was a bag resembling a zouwu from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Clearly, the convention-exclusive merch was hot this year. Many of the bags were sold out by the end of the convention’s first day, but luckily, we were able to get our hands on a zouwu bag. At first glance, it has a cartoonish resemblance to the zouwu. The orange and yellow colors are bright and eye-catching, but the zouwu’s big eyes are the feature that really draws you in.
Everybody knows that a bag is only as good as its functionality. The zouwu bag, thankfully, comes with a lot of functionality. There are two side pockets for holding smaller things for quick access, though the stiff material of the bag might make fitting water bottles in those spaces a little tricky. Right on the front is the larger zipper pouch. It’s great for a small wallet and has the signature Loungefly brand plate right on the front. The face and mane of the Zouwu are taller than the bag’s main pocket, but access to the said pocket is still easy and quick. Like many other Loungefly bags, this one is a backpack, which makes it easy to use as a casual or highly functional product.
Here’s a fun feature — it lights up! Since the movie shows the zouwu as a bright creature with an impressive, glowing mane, incorporating that into the design is the special element that gives the product extra pizzazz.
The Loungefly Fantastic Beasts zouwu bag sold for $90 at San Diego Comic-Con. Supplies are still in stock but are very limited, so grab what you can while you can.
