Diary of a First Year – Part 8
September 18, morning
Dear Diary,
I’m still not sure how many showers I’ll have to take to fully get the smell of dragon dung off of me. I’m tempted to skip Transfiguration today so I can scrub some more. How I got covered in dragon dung is quite the story from Herbology this morning.
It started off normal enough: I was pruning some dittany and talking to Cameron when I needed to get some more fertilizer. I headed over to the pile of dragon dung, and when I was almost there, my shoelaces tied themselves together, and I tripped and landed face first in the pile of dung! A group of Slytherin girls behind me started positively cackling. They tried to get Cameron to laugh too, pointing out how I was struggling to get up from the shifting dung pile and how much was smeared all over my face. But Cameron stood up to them. He came to help me up and positively hissed how rude those girls were and how they’d regret being so mean. Maybe they were right, though. A lot of Slytherins have a bad reputation for thinking they’re better than everyone else. I’ve been worried that Cameron will end up like that too. He’s been hanging out with members of their Quidditch team a lot lately, and I was afraid to lose him. But I think, for now, we’ll be okay. I just need to scrub this smell off of me!
