“Hogwarts Legacy” Drops Official Launch Trailer
We’ve done it, everyone. After multiple delays, we have finally reached the month in which Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Join us as we celebrate by watching the recently shared official launch trailer on repeat.
Multiple rewatches are not unwarranted, as you can see, because this latest trailer is full of new details. In the beginning, we see the main character being handed a leather-bound book, which the narrator assures us will ensure our success. Current speculation is that this is another glimpse at the Wizard’s Field Guide, a resource given to the main character, ostensibly to ease their transition to Hogwarts as a fifth-year student.
We’re also given a brief look at what we can expect from the classroom environment. “Professor Weasley has asked that your professors give you instruction outside of the ordinary curriculum,” we hear as the trailer navigates through a montage of instructional scenes. Fans will certainly recognize the mandrakes being repotted in the verdant Herbology classroom, but there’s also a professor who appears to transfigure objects into butterflies and a glimpse of what may be a Care of Magical Creatures class.
But if you think Hogwarts Legacy‘s gameplay is restricted to campus, you’d be mistaken. We learned last week that players will be able to swim in the Black Lake, and it appears that there will be no shortage of such opportunities for extracurricular adventure. From what appears to be a pub to a mysterious, as-yet-unknown cave, the trailer shows us that the main character will be spending quite a bit of time outside the castle.
The main character has something special to offer as well. “I have a rare ability to see whispers of ancient magic,” he says, as we watch him have a magical moment in what appears to be Ollivander’s wand shop. “It’s a powerful magic that should only be wielded by a select few.” This ability is bound to come in handy, given the dangerous situations and menacing magical creatures the trailer proceeds to reveal.
All that to say, yes, there is even more to anticipate. Luckily, the wait is almost over. Check out Wizarding World Digital’s deep dive below for even more of a breakdown.
