Digital Hogwarts Library Book Covers Updated for 2023
The Hogwarts Library collection has undergone several changes since its introduction in 2001. Originally a set of two, consisting of Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the collection has since added The Tales of Beedle the Bard and has seen regular alterations in design over the years. This year brings another exciting update by way of new book covers for the audiobook and e-book editions.
MuggleNet has learned from Pottermore Publishing that the covers have been designed by creative agency Studio La Plage, which is the same agency that created last year’s updated covers for the digital editions of the seven main books.
Fans will recall from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban that hippogriffs are uniquely particular and require much deference from all those who approach them. Readers will learn all this and more within the pages of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which now sports an illustration of the feathered and fierce-eyed magical creature on the updated audiobook and e-book covers.
Quidditch Through the Ages, which is esteemed as being the most in-demand book in the library at Hogwarts, has also undergone a makeover. The volume boasts bold new hues of orange and black, the colors of the Chudley Cannons, on a scarlet background. And indeed, the cover depicts two Beaters from the English team in mid-air action shots.
The collection of magical fables so crucial to Voldemort’s quest and ultimate defeat, The Tales of the Beedle the Bard, winks at its own legacy with a subtle inclusion of the Deathly Hallows symbol on the cover. Less understated is the footed and warty cauldron that takes center stage, an image familiar to those who have read “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot.”
The cover of the digital collection itself ties up all three volumes with a Bowtruckle. The Hogwarts motto, “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus” (Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon), is also included, bridging the gap between the Hogwarts Library and yours.
Furthermore, this update comes just in time for the release of the Tales of Beedle the Bard audiobook in Bulgarian. The other two Bulgarian Hogwarts Library audiobooks will be released on April 17 and 24. As previously reported, Pottermore Publishing has teamed up with the Stockholm-based audiobook subscription service Storytel to produce Hogwarts Library audiobooks in ten different languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Korean, Polish, Russian, Swedish, and Turkish.
The Studio La Plage cover art for both the Harry Potter books and the Hogwarts Library set can also be licensed by print publishers. Croatian Potter publisher Mozaik has already printed the Harry Potter series with the new art, as seen below.
