“Hogwarts Legacy” Update Announcement: What Does This Mean for Players?
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most sought-after games in recent years, with over 22 million copies sold by the end of December 2023 and a retail gross of $1 billion. So it’s not surprising that gamers have been eager for news on any updates or DLCs to enhance the wizarding world experience, and it looks like we may not have to wait long, either.
The game recently made this exciting statement via social media:
As we near the one-year anniversary of Hogwarts Legacy, we wanted to let our community know that the Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation-exclusive content will be available on other platforms later this summer, along with additional updates and features for the game. Stay tuned in the coming months for more details on what’s coming to Hogwarts Legacy this year.
If you have been unable to play the Haunted Hogsmeade quest so far, then you are in for a gripping and tense experience as you explore an abandoned shop that has a dangerous and malevolent past attached to it (and trust us when we say that you will never look at mannequins in the same way).
But even if we were to have several crystal balls and Unfogging the Future by our desks, what the updates will include would still be unclear, and so we must rely on pure speculation to determine what will be featured.
One addition to the game that would be popular is the ability to free-roam with a companion of your choice. According to GamingBible, fans are eager for the developers to reinstate the companion setting after discovering a selection of dismantled files hidden in the game’s settings. Examples of this feature can still be seen with Poppy and Sebastian, leading many to speculate that this could and should be the next update.
Another highly anticipated feature would be a DLC, though it is unlikely that this will happen following an announcement from Hogwarts Legacy director Alan Tew at the IGN Fan Fest last year that there were no plans of releasing a DLC at the time. If one were to be launched, the ability to play Quidditch would be hugely welcome among the community. However, such a spectacular addition could be something that Warner Bros. Games saves for its Quidditch Champions spin-off.
The following months will be an exciting time for Hogwarts Legacy players, so as we wait for further news to break, we will make it our mission to stroke all of the cats, take care of the Nifflers, and continue to learn about the inventor and invention of Floo powder.
