Twelve Scenes from The “Deathly Hallows Pt. 1” Movie that Weren’t in the Book
After exploring the movie scenes from six previous parts that weren’t in the books, we’re finally entering the final stretch. Since “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” is divided into two parts, we decided to follow the lead and do the same because there are too many interesting moments to talk about.
Many fans were happy to have two final parts because it gave us a chance to delay the inevitable. Some thought that the first part was a little boring, but it still had memorable and important moments, some of which weren’t in the original. Let’s remember them, shall we?
1. Hermione uses “Obliviate”.
In the book, we find out via Hermione’s words that she erased the memories of her parents and sent them to Australia. In the movie, we get to see that sorrowful moment which was very emotional, especially with the soundtrack “Obliviate” playing in the background.
2. Harry holds his old toy.
In the first part of this series, we mentioned the part, when Harry was playing with his little knight. Now, we’re talking about the moment when Harry’s holding and examining the same old toy. We can’t know for sure what he was thinking about, but we can guess that he was reminiscing about his years in Privet Drive and saying goodbye to his childhood.
3. Harry hugs Ron and Hermione.
Harry isn’t famous for expressing his feelings. He loves his friends but rarely shows that. And this moment, when after finishing a dangerous mission, Harry sees that his best friends are fine, he can’t help but run and hug them, showing how much Hermione and Ron mean to him.
4. George catches Harry and Ginny.
Sadly, we didn’t see much of Harry and Ginny’s relationship. Before they break up, they get to have one last kiss, which is interrupted by George with his famous “Morning” one-liner and playful smirk. That was hilarious. Well, and awkward, at least for Ginny and Harry.
5. Hermione teaches Ron to play piano.
This very short and ordinary moment has become an absolute favorite for all Romione shippers, simply because it’s super cute. Especially the way Ron absentmindedly stares at Hermione. How sweet!
6. Harry confronts Umbridge.
We love seeing little references to previous parts. Like this one, when Harry, under the disguise of Polyjuice Potion, confronts Umbridge with her famous “I must not tell lies” quote. Guess we can say that Harry was quite vindictive and unforgiving, right?
7. Ron gets jealous.
Ron’s lack of self-confidence made him feel jealous, thinking that Hermione would choose Harry over him. In the film, we get to follow his growing jealousy, whenever he sees his two friends sharing a moment.
8. Hermione cuts Harry’s hair.
This moment was extremely short, but we want to mention it because Harry’s expression when he thinks that Hermione messed something up, was funny. And also, the scene made their camping more realistic, as they’d naturally have to face such mundane situations, like growing hair.
9. Harry and Hermione dance.
You were definitely waiting for this, weren’t you? The famous dance under Nick Cave’s “O Children” song has become a hymn for Potterheads. This is one of the sweetest moments of their underrated friendship. For an instant, we all thought that Harry and Hermione might kiss, which didn’t happen, proving that they didn’t have any romantic feelings.
10. Hermione puts flowers on a grave.
We don’t get to see much of Harry’s grief throughout the series. Partly because he lost his parents at such an early age, he didn’t remember them. Or maybe because he kept his emotions to himself. So this moment, when Hermione conjures a wreath on James and Lily’s grave and Harry sheds a tear, was an emotional one.
11. Harry and Ron burn up the tent.
This scene can also be called “boys will be boys”. After all the arguing and drama between Harry and Ron, we were glad to see their friendship didn’t suffer. And that they can be silly even in the most serious and dangerous times. Plus, their faces are hilarious.
12. Bellatrix leaves a mark on Hermione.
Bellatrix torturing Hermione was one of the most brutal and nerve-wracking scenes. Helena Bonham Carter even apologized to Emma Watson, because it felt really intense. In the book, she simply tortured Hermione, but in the movie, she also left a “Mudblood” scar on her wrist. This was also a kind of metaphor, showing that Hermione has to accept her blood status and not feel ashamed of it.
Sadly, we’ve reached the end of this article, which only means one thing: the next part will be the last one. Can you guess which scenes will be mentioned in it?
