Death Eaters Return to Haunt Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando Resort
Halloween is a big night in the wizarding world, and at Universal Orlando Resort, it’s no different. The park’s Halloween Horror Nights event is set to repeat itself, returning for a 33rd year of spooks. This year, two Harry Potter–themed events will be included in the celebrations.
Death Eaters will roam the streets of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at the park on select nights between August 30 and November 3 as part of the Death Eaters Encounter event, which is running again after its success frightening guests last year. If you’re planning to visit, watch out for their dark spells and cunning attempts to turn you to the side of the Dark Lord. Some Death Eaters will be unafraid to challenge your views and ask for your support outright, while others lurk in the shadows practicing the Dark Arts. Each encounter with one of Lord Voldemort’s followers will be different, so make sure you stay on your toes if you’re walking around Diagon Alley.
The exact times and dates of the Death Eaters’ appearances are unknown, the details of their next attack a well-kept secret to only those who are partaking.
The Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride will also be partaking in the event, although it will provide a much less scary attraction than a lot of the others billed in the event. The thrill ride is sure to get hairy at times but is nothing compared to the fear of a Death Eater imprinting their mark. It does have an earlier closing time than other attractions that are featured in the event, so don’t leave the experience too late.
If you’re willing to risk the dark side, the Borgin and Burkes shop on Diagon Alley will remain open for any Dark Arts–inspired merchandise you might be after, including t-shirts and other accessories. If the Death Eaters have managed to turn you, you’ll be able to get your very own Death Eater mask from the shop or visit Ollivanders to get a replica wand of your favorite Death Eater.
There’s plenty more than just the terrors of the wizarding world on display as part of the Horror Nights, with haunted houses inspired by the worlds of A Quiet Place and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire among a list of ten spooky buildings to walk through. There are also five sinister scare zones, all swarming with scare actors ready to terrify you to the core, as well as the Nightmare Fuel: Nocturnal Circus live entertainment act.
The season also comes with a bunch of fresh food and beverage options, including a whole range of cocktails and themed food items to be found at various kiosks around the park. New Horror Nights–exclusive merchandise is also available at shops throughout the park, with an entire Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store popping up.
Are you willing to risk a fright or two to attend the Horror Nights, or will you be spending the spooky season hiding away from dangers?
