“Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience” Hitting a Second Texas Location This Fall
Last year, Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience made its way to Little Elm, Texas. This fall, the experience will make a second appearance in the state, this time in Austin rather than in the Dallas area.
The Forbidden Forest Experience will make camp in the McKinney Roughs Nature Park, a beauty spot and activity-filled woodland bordered by the Colorado River, just outside the main city of Austin, in Cedar Creek. Fans will be able to journey among the trees, taking in the best forest scenes from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series as they are brought to life in a stunning light trail.
There’s also the chance to interact with the experience around you. There are several opportunities to cast spells throughout the walk, from small charms to duel-worthy hexes. You’ll be able to try your hand at conjuring a Patronus, so make sure to go with happy memories at the ready. If you’re lucky, you might even gain the trust of a hippogriff or catch sight of an elusive unicorn after interacting with the creatures in the forest around you. A unicorn isn’t the only rare sight in the forest, with Mr. Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia hidden somewhere among the trees for only the keenest of explorers to find.

The experience’s main feature is a 45-to-75-minute nighttime hike through the woodlands, designed by award-winning theatrical designers. After completing the trail, you’ll be able to relax in a magical village. The village is filled with enchanting food and beverage options, as well as an onsite retail store for all your merchandise needs. All ages are welcome, with the youngest wizards and witches (those below the age of two) attending free of charge. The experience will open in its Austin location on November 9, with opening hours from 5:45 p.m. every night until the last entry of 10:15 p.m.
Tickets for the experience went on sale on August 29, but there are still plenty to go around if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Are you daring enough to take on the Forbidden Forest when it opens?
