15 Best Hermione Granger Quotes to Remember On Her Birthday
Hermione Granger is one of the most loved characters in the Harry Potter series, and we can totally see why: she’s smart, beautiful, courageous, and a great friend. Some fans complain that the movies didn’t represent her well enough and made her too perfect, while in the books we got to see her as a more wholesome and complicated character, with both her good sides and flaws.
Today is a special day for Hermione and all her fans. On September 19 we celebrate her 45th birthday. For this special occasion, we decided to remember some of her most amazing quotes from the books and movies and get to explore her character more through her words.
1. “Books! And cleverness! There are more important things! Friendship and bravery.”
Many fans thought that Hermione was more suitable for Ravenclaw and not Gryffindor, however this quote proves the opposite. No matter how much she loved studying, she understood that there were far more significant things in life.
2. “At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in. They got in on pure talent.”
This was savage! Hermione always knew how to stand her ground and protect the ones she loved the most.
3. “Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.”
That’s actually a very philosophical and wise thought because we’re all often afraid of the thought of something rather than the actual thing. Hermione knew this at the age of twelve. Brilliant!
4. “I’m highly logical, which allows me to look past extraneous detail and perceive clearly that which others overlook.”
Well, this quote represents the Ravenclaw part of Hermione. We’re pretty sure that when Harry heard this sentence, his brain froze for a while.
5. “I’m hoping to do some good in the world.”
Just a friendly reminder that Hermione said this to the Minister of Magic himself after he asked whether she wanted to follow a career in Magical Law. And some people think she’s not brave enough.
6. “You! You foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach.”
Hermione always tried to stay calm and not to get into any fights. But once she loses her patience, you better watch out, cause there’s a fair chance she’ll insult and slap you in front of your friends.
7. “She’s only interested in you because she thinks you’re the chosen one.”
Ah, the straightforward Hermione, giving some loving advice to her friend. We love these moments when she realizes that Harry can’t really take any hints, so she has to tell everything directly.
8. “Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.”
Hermione always had her sassiest lines ready. Especially whenever it came to having a confrontation with Ron.
9. “It’s sort of exciting, isn’t it? Breaking the rules.”
Another moment to enjoy the rebellious part of Hermione. She definitely knew when to be a diligent student and when it was time to break all the rules.
10. “Now, if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed – or worse, expelled.”
Let us make two guesses. First, you definitely were waiting for this line, and two, you just read it in your head with little Hermione’s cute voice and intonation, didn’t you?
11. “I checked this out weeks ago for a bit of light reading.”
Said Hermione, holding a huge book, which was absolutely not a “light reading”. We guess we can tell that this is the one quote that perfectly describes Miss Granger.
12. “I’ve always admired your courage, Harry. But sometimes you can be really thick.”
That, ladies and gentlemen, is something only your best friend will say to your face. First, they’ll compliment you, and next thing you know, they’re talking about your flaws.
13. “If you’re going to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us too.”
Not every 13-year-old teenager would have the guts to say this to a serial killer, who’s supposedly wanted to kill you. But since we want to be fair, we’ll also add, that in the book this line originally belonged to Ron, not Hermione.
14. “Stop, stop, stop! You’re going to take someone’s eye out. Besides, you’re saying it wrong. It’s levi-O-sa, not leviosAR.”
Another highly anticipated quote that we just couldn’t ignore. Hermione could have become a great teacher, couldn’t she?
15. “You’ve got just as much right as wizards to be unhappy! You’ve got the right to wages and holidays and proper clothes, you don’t have to do everything you’re told.”
We won’t forgive the filmmakers for not including Hermione’s activist movement. For those who never read the book, let us explain: Hermione organized a “S.P.E.W.” (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) campaign and was trying to fight for elves’ rights at the age of 14. That’s what we call a determination!
