Dame Imelda Staunton Reprising Role as Dolores Umbridge for Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe

It would be a difficult thing to envision any Ministry of Magic–related attraction without Dame Imelda Staunton as the nefarious Dolores Umbridge. Fortunately, thanks to some newly revealed details about Epic Universe’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic in the video below, we know now that that particular feat of imagination can remain unconquered.

Joining Eddie Redmayne, who will reportedly also reprise his role as Newt Scamander for the park, Imelda Staunton will don that infuriating combination of girlish pink and smug self-satisfaction for her character’s part in Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. The characters Yaxley, Macnair, the Carrows, and Kingsley Shacklebolt will be featured as well.

The ride, which takes place at the British Ministry of Magic, begins as Dolores Umbridge is about to stand trial for her crimes. With a defendant like this one, however, things are unlikely to commence on schedule. Guests will enter a magical lift as they journey through the Ministry’s departments in pursuit of the infamous former headmistress.

But there’s more to the attraction than just the chase. Fans will be able to enter some never-before-seen spaces, such as the Aurors’ locker room and headquarters, the Hall of Ministers, and a map room, all of which will contain plenty of Easter eggs. Umbridge’s office is on the tour as well, allowing guests an opportunity to meet a new character, Higgeldy the house-elf, who is tasked with packing up the place in preparation for the trial.

If motion simulation rides aren’t for you, it might be worth the visit to the attraction simply to marvel at the wonders of the British Ministry. Guests will walk through the Floo passage and arrive at the full-scale atrium, which features the Fountain of Magical Brethren, flying memos, and a ceiling enchanted to mimic the weather.
