Wizarding World Website Rebranded as HarryPotter.com

Just a few weeks after the quiet removal of the Harry Potter Fan Club app, a new mysterious and unannounced change has come to the forefront. As of October 15, the Wizarding World website is no more.

Before you despair over the loss of your Patronus and other magical digital features, take heart that all are still safely preserved and accessible. The platform formerly known as WizardingWorld.com – which was formerly known as Pottermore – has now become HarryPotter.com, but the various fixtures of the original site seem largely unchanged. Visitors can still access their personal accounts as well as quizzes, news, and more.

The only real differences seem to be the page’s header, which reflects the new name, and the footer, which displays some pretty careful wording. “Looking for Wizarding World?” it reads beneath the copyright. HarryPotter.com is the official home of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, and the Wizarding World, formerly known as Pottermore.”

The HarryPotter.com footer reads: "Looking for Wizarding World? HarryPotter.com is the official home of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, and the Wizarding World, formerly known as Pottermore."

The footer of the brand’s website contains a slight acknowledgment of the change.

Much like the disappearing act performed by the Harry Potter Fan Club app, this rebranding has happened without explanation. Of course, the Wizarding World and Harry Potter have always been fairly synonymous anyway, but inquiring minds will wonder at the motivations behind this official switch. Maybe the less-than-stellar box office performance of the Fantastic Beasts trilogy brought about the shift. Or perhaps the upcoming and highly anticipated TV series has prompted the franchise to bring Harry Potter back to the forefront of fan attention in a more formal way. Unfortunately, without an official announcement, it is all speculation.
