David Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double in the Harry Potter films, is auctioning off a Marauder’s Map that he’s had in his possession that was used on screen in the Potter films, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Holmes shared in an Instagram post that he had rediscovered this version of the Marauder’s Map while “digging through some old memorabilia” from his days on the Potter films.

The map is being auctioned on November 14 at Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, which is taking place in London, England. According to the Propstore Auction website, the map is estimated to sell for between £20,000 ($25,940) and £40,000 ($51,880).
In the Instagram post, which you can read below, Holmes also shared the reason why he has decided to auction off this iconic piece of Potter history, saying it “wasn’t an easy decision.”
While working on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Holmes had a tragic accident on set, leaving him paralyzed with a debilitating spinal injury. Last year, Daniel Radcliffe produced a documentary about his stunt double. Titled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, the documentary details Holmes’s life, his work on the Potter films, and the injury that changed his life.
Holmes is also publishing a memoir that delves into his experiences on the set of Potter and the accident that left him paralyzed. It is written with Matt Allen and includes a special foreword by Daniel Radcliffe. The book is called The Boy Who Lived and is being released on November 14 – the same day the Marauder’s Map is going up for auction.
As well as Holmes’s item, also going up for auction at Propstore between November 14 and 17 is Harry Potter’s wand – which was used by Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and is estimated to sell for between $25,000 and $50,000 – Hermione Granger’s wand, Ron Weasley’s wand, and Professor Dumbledore’s Elder Wand.
Plus, a rare, uncorrected proof copy of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is being auctioned, estimated to sell for $12,500 to $25,000. Other enchanting artefacts you’ll come across at the auction include a Nimbus 2000 broom, Gringotts bank scales, Hogwarts robes, and more. Any Potter fan would love the opportunity to get their hands on these authentic props from the films.
We’ve got everything crossed that the auction is going to conjure up a big sum for the Marauder’s Map because it’s clear that the money raised is going to make a huge difference to the lives of Holmes and his girlfriend.
