Fandom Forward began as the Harry Potter Alliance in 2005 to bring fans together in activism and turn Harry Potter fans into heroes in the Muggle world. Since then, it has run many successful wizarding world campaigns, including petitioning for Warner Bros. to use fair trade chocolate for its Wizarding World products and an annual book donation drive for numerous communities. Its Granger Leadership Academy has helped introduce countless young people to the world of activism, and there is no doubt that its actions and campaigns have changed the Harry Potter fandom and positively impacted so many people worldwide. Now, Fandom Forward is taking a step back and “[passing] the baton over to the next generation of fan organizers.”

The statement shared by Fandom Forward’s board and senior staff announcing its end promises that current activists and organizers will still be active in their own communities through other channels but that Fandom Forward is “coming to a close.” They ask for fans to continue their journeys in fan activism with other organizations and communities.

We wish all of you love, hope, creativity, and inspiration as we continue our journey forward, and hope to cross paths in unexpected and enriching ways in the coming years.

MuggleNet has been reporting on Fandom Forward and its campaigns for many years. We invite you to join us in raising a wand of thanks and farewell to an organization that has irrevocably changed the fandom we all love.

I've been a proud Slytherin for as long as I can remember, and love taking inspiration from the Wizarding World for short films.
