Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter Is Heading to Shanghai

Warner Bros. has announced that a brand-new Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter is heading to Shanghai, China, in partnership with Jinjiang International.

This new addition to the wizarding world will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Harry Potter films, featuring iconic sets, costumes, and props from the franchise. The tour is set to be over 53,000 square meters, making it even bigger than Tokyo’s tour, which opened in 2023 and covers 30,000 square meters.

While it’s still waiting on regulatory approval, the plan is to place it in a theme park that’s being renovated by Jinjiang International. It’s set to open in 2027, so there’s plenty of time to plan your trip.

This is especially exciting for Chinese fans because Harry Potter has become a huge hit in China. Despite China’s strict film quotas and preference for local content, the franchise has managed to make its mark, particularly with the popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter section at Universal Studios Beijing. Now, with the Shanghai Studio Tour, fans will get to experience even more of the world of Harry Potter, seeing the films from a new perspective and discovering the behind-the-scenes secrets.

The Shanghai Tour will be the third Warner Bros. Studio Tour worldwide. The original Studio Tour is located at Leavesden Studios in Watford, near London, where Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts were filmed. It opened in 2012 and within its first year had over a million visitors.

There’s no doubt that this exciting expansion of the wizarding world in Shanghai is going to be a hit for Potter fans. We’ll be keeping an eye on all the updates and will be sure to share the latest news as we look forward to the opening of this magical experience.
