MinaLima has announced “Defenders of Hogwarts,” its first board game set in the wizarding world. The game is planned for a limited release in fall 2026, followed by a wider global launch in multiple languages in spring 2027. The timing lines up with the 25th anniversary year of the “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” film, which was released in 2001.  

The game was developed by industrial designer David Waterman in partnership with MinaLima and in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. In “Defenders of Hogwarts,” Death Eaters and other Dark Forces have infiltrated the castle, and players must decide whether to defend the school or join the threat against it. Along the way, they will explore the grounds, build spell-casting skills and prepare for battle.

Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima helped create the graphic identity of the Harry Potter films, from Harry’s Hogwarts acceptance letter to the Marauder’s Map. Their studio history notes that the pair began working together in 2001 on the graphic universe of the Harry Potter film series before founding Studio MinaLima in 2009. 

The studio has continued shaping wizarding world visuals beyond the original films, including work on the “Fantastic Beasts” films, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and collectible art, books, stationery and homeware. MinaLima’s designs are also sold through Harry Potter Shop locations.

Eduardo Lima said the team wanted the game to feel like “a truly unique wizarding experience,” with attention given to the mechanics, world-building, artwork and illustrations. Miraphora Mina described the project as “a whole new level of interactivity and storytelling,” adding that play has long been central to the studio’s work.

“Defenders of Hogwarts” will be available during its limited release through selected online retailers, House of MinaLima locations and Harry Potter Shops. MinaLima currently operates House of MinaLima locations in cities including London, Edinburgh, New York, Chicago, Osaka, Harajuku and Seoul.
