At a glance: Universal Epic Universe’s new nighttime spectacular, Universal Celestial Goodnight, begins July 7 with fountains, lights, fireworks and a Wizarding World touch.
Universal Epic Universe is adding a nighttime spectacular this summer, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic will be part of the send-off.
Universal Celestial Goodnight is set to run nightly beginning July 7 at Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park. The show will take over Celestial Park with synchronized fountains, lighting effects, music and a big fireworks finale.
While the show is designed as a park-wide tribute to all of Epic Universe’s worlds, the Harry Potter connection is what has our attention. Universal says the production will highlight the “magical adventures” of Ministry of Magic alongside the other portal lands: Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk and Dark Universe.
It sounds like a huge production. The show will use nearly 600 synchronized light fixtures, more than 350 fountains and 7 million LED lights built throughout Celestial Park. The choreography will stretch across the area from Luna to Apollo before ending with fireworks over the park.
It’s not a standalone Potter show, but for those of us ending the day after stepping through 1920s Paris and into the British Ministry, it sounds like Universal is making sure we still have a little magic for the end of our day.
Universal Celestial Goodnight begins Tuesday, July 7, at Universal Epic Universe.
