Brazil take on Wales in first quarter-final match of 2014 Quidditch World Cup

The first quarter-final match of the 2014 Quidditch World Cup took place today, with Brazil versus Wales. Ginny Potter was on hand once again to provide a report for the Daily Prophet on Pottermore. She writes,

The first quarter-final match of the tournament has proved to be the most contentious game so far, one which began in bad blood and ended in a brawl that saw Welsh manager Gwenog Jones dragged from the pitch by her own Beaters.

The game involved several fouls from the Welsh team and lousy sportsmanship from their manager, Gwenog Jones, who was even prevented from entering the stadium for the first ten minutes of the match. However, Welsh Chaser Jackie Jernigan earned praise from Potter for

scoring one of the tournament’s most stunning goals from a distance of fifty yards.

The Brazilian Seeker, Tony Silva, caught the Snitch in the match’s 131st minute, which means they will now face the winners of the Liechtenstein vs. USA match in the semi-finals.
