Pottermore Releases New Wizarding World Timeline!
Have you ever wondered when certain things happened in the wizarding world?
Back in April, Pottermore teased that plenty of exciting things were coming soon to the site. This week, Pottermore released a brand new timeline of the wizarding world, available to all Pottermore users, which outlines key wizarding world events and characters. The timeline
features a compilation of wizarding greats through history.
The timeline begins with famous witches and witches in Ancient Greece and runs right up the present day, including familiar names such as Albus Dumbledore and Miranda Goshawk.
But it’s not only familiar faces you’ll see on the timeline since plenty of interesting names and facts are revealed as well. For example, have you ever wondered when Hogsmeade Village was founded? Or when Floo Powder was invented? Or who invented the Dungbomb? Or who all the members of the wizarding band the Weird Sisters are?
Now you can find out!
Interestingly, we noticed that Dumbledore was born a few years before Newt Scamander, in 1881. Newt was born in 1897. Does this mean that a young Dumbledore will make an appearance in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film?
There are some interesting omissions, too – Tom Riddle a.k.a. Lord Voldemort does not appear on the timeline, but with more updates apparently due to come, we’re sure that there’s still plenty more to look forward to!
Check out the timeline here.
