Matt Lewis Talks Reactions to “THAT” Photo Shoot, Discusses “Me Before You”
While recently attending the Dockers Flannels for Heroes 2015 garden party, which aims to support Britain’s Heroes charities, Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom) had a chance to speak to the Evening Standard about his new movie and that infamous photo shoot!
Reflecting on the reaction to his viral cover for Attitude magazine, Matt said,
The reaction was crazy – I turned my phone off for a couple of days; it was just a bit weird. It’s all nice stuff being said. I can’t complain about it; it’s very flattering. It’s just weird to have people talking about that.
Matt also revealed that after J.K. Rowling tweeted him to warn her next time, she sent him a text to clarify that she was only joking!
Bless her, she messaged me the next day to say, ‘You know it was only a joke, right?’ – She’s so lovely.
Matt also shared that his mum wasn’t happy with the photo shoot, he told the Evening Standard.
My mum is a magistrate, and she was at the court, and all of her colleagues who are magistrates were coming up to her going, ‘I saw your son,’ and she hadn’t seen it at this point.
She knew I’d done something for a magazine. Anyway, someone showed her, and she was mortified. So I got bit of [an] earache from her.
Matt also had a chance to discuss his new movie Me Before You. In the movie, Matt plays a triathlete, and he revealed that he has been on a very strict diet for the role.
I play a triathlete who is just constantly focused on training – no alcohol, no salad. I’ve just finished doing that; I finished last week.
I’ve put on abut [sic] a stone this week. I feel so fat. I’ve eaten pizza, drank beer, it’s been so good… I probably need to stop eating cake at some point.
