Muggle Quidditch Comes to Bonython Park
If you venture out to Bonython Park in North Adelaide on a Sunday afternoon, you may witness the latest training session of South Australia’s first official Quidditch team, the Adelaide Augureys. Danni McCormick, a player on the team, states that some people wandering past will often give the team odd and confused looks, while others instantly recognize the sport and sometimes even join in.
McCormick states,
The best thing about it is it’s such a community sport, everyone can come play, and it doesn’t matter how fit or unfit you want to be.
The team will be traveling to Melbourne this December for the Quidditch Championships, QUAFL 2015. This event will be hosted by the Monash Muggles and the Victoria Quidditch Association at Monash University’s Clayton Campus.
If you live in the area, now is your chance to join the local Quidditch team! The Augurerys are trying to recruit more players in order to expand their league. As of right now, they are working on developing more teams. Currently, they split their team up and stage scrimmages against themselves since there are no other teams to play against in the area.
