Jim Broadbent Takes the Stage Again at Lincolnshire

by Courtney Gamache · October 6, 2015

Heading back to the roots of his childhood, Jim Broadbent (Professor Horace Slughorn) will attend an already-sold-out event in Lincolnshire as part of a year-long celebration to honor the Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary. Broadbent will be giving a performance inside the Lincoln Cathedral nave, reading some of Tennyson’s most memorable work through An Evening with Tennyson.

According to the Grimsby Telegraph, this event will take place on Friday, October 9 with ticket sales going directly toward maintaining and caring for the cathedral building.

Broadbent’s appearance at this special event shows the care he has for his hometown. The actor has many ties to the community to this day, including a local chapel that his parents turned into Broadbent Theatre for the Lindsey Rural Players. Broadbent still serves the company as honorary president.

When it comes to having Jim Broadbent at the spectacular event, a spokesperson from the Lincoln Cathedral couldn’t have been more thrilled:

We are delighted to welcome Jim back to his home county and look forward to an entertaining and magical evening.

Broadbent can be seen next on the big screen in a film called Brooklyn, which recently premiered at the Sundance and Toronto International Film Festivals. Alongside him are fellow Potter alumni Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley) and Julie Walters (Molly Weasley). Brooklyn tells the tale of a young girl forced to make a difficult decision – will she follow her heart or her head?

Brooklyn is set to premiere in the US on November 6, but we already have a review of the film here!

What opinions have you formed on the upcoming film Brooklyn? Let us know your thoughts below!
