Draco and Scorpius Malfoy “Cursed Child” Portraits Revealed!

by Sophie Reid · June 2, 2016

Over the last couple of days, photographs of both the Potter and Weasley-Granger families from the upcoming play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, have been released. Well, today, is the final day of Pottermore’s cast reveals, and it’s the Malfoy family’s turn.

Draco Malfoy will be played by Alex Price, and Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son, will be played by Anthony Boyle. Take a look at the actors in character below.

Like the other young cast members, Scorpius is in Hogwarts school uniform.

Pottermore also shared some thoughts from the actors and J.K. Rowling. Rowling commented that

I love Draco and Scorpius – they actually look related.

Rowling added,

I’ve got a feeling Scorpius is going to do nothing to turn girls off the Malfoy men.

For Boyle, however, there were other challenges on taking on the role – such as going blond.

It was such a game changer. As soon as I saw it, it was like, ‘Okay, I’m playing Scorpius Malfoy – this is real now.’ That was such a big moment.

Price, who plays Draco, spoke about how he got into the role.

Jack Thorne’s script. Start right there. And there’s obviously a massive history of books to draw on. You could tie yourself in knots worrying about it. But our first job is to serve this play and J.K. Rowling’s characters as best we can.

A bonus behind the scenes video was also shared. Check it out below!

Did You Know

Quidditch started in the 11th century at a place called Queerditch Marsh, which is not marked on Muggle maps because wizards have made the place unplottable. Originally, it was quite a crude game played on broomsticks with just the Quaffle.
