J.K. Rowling Tops Hollywood Most Powerful Authors List
We’re used to seeing author J.K. Rowling feature on all sorts of lists and winning awards, so it’s no surprise that Rowling has been named on a list of Hollywood’s most powerful authors. With the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them imminent, Rowling has topped the list of 25, put together by the Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter states that
Even without the Harry Potter series and its blockbuster film run, Rowling would make the cut: a TV miniseries based on her first adult book (The Casual Vacancy), an upcoming BBC series based on her Cormoran Strike novels (published under the Robert Galbraith pen name) and a hit West End play (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), the script of which became the best-selling book of the year so far. The Nov. 18 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in the Potter-verse but without Harry, brings the biggest test yet for Rowling, 51, who penned the screenplay (her first) for Warner Bros.
The list also includes The Fault in Our Stars author, YouTuber, and long term member of the Potter fan community John Green, at No. 8. Also on the list are young adult authors Patrick Ness (24) and Lauren Oliver (23), as well as fantasy author Neil Gaiman (9). You can see the full list here.
We certainly agree that Rowling deserves to top the list, and we can’t wait for Fantastic Beasts to be released! In case you missed it, the final trailer was released yesterday. Let us know what you think of the list in the comments below.
