Newt Scamander – In the TARDIS?
Though he’s currently firmly entrenched in the wizarding world, Eddie Redmayne says he would love to be a part of another beloved British series: Doctor Who!
On a recent edition of The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, Redmayne answered fan questions about the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, his trademark freckles, and the comparisons between Newt and the Doctor:
“I see the scarf, I see the coat, I see the bow tie…I’m also a huge fan of those actors, love Matt Smith. I suppose the briefcase has a Tardis vibe to it.”
Alas, it seems the busy schedule of filming five Fantastic Beasts movies will keep Redmayne from going wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey for a while; “[m]aybe when I’m 73,” he joked.
On the broadcast, Redmayne also answered questions from fans about his character and the film, including mentioning that Dumbledore, Grindelwald and the Lestrange family are all mentioned in this first installment. He also called the Potter series and the wizarding world a yearly “hug, a warm wizardy hug.”
We most definitely cannot wait until we get to join the new wizarding world group hug with Newt in the lead!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters on November 18.
