2017 Golden Globes Nominations Announced!
Last week, the nominations for the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced, and among the nominees are a number of Harry Potter alumni and their current and former projects. Entertainment news source Variety, which reported the nominees for this year, also reported that actor Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) will be presenting an award at this year’s show!
Colin Farrell (Graves in Fantastic Beasts) has been nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his role in The Lobster. Kubo and the Two Strings, which features Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) in the role of Raiden the Moon King, has been nominated in the category of Best Motion Picture – Animated.
Additionally, Game of Thrones has picked up a nomination for Best Television Series – Drama. The show has featured numerous Potter alumni, including Julian Glover (the voice of Aragog), Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks), David Bradley (Argus Filch), Michelle Fairley (Mrs. Granger in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1), Ciarán Hinds (Aberforth Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2), and Edward Tudor-Pole (Mr. Borgin). (Actor Jim Broadbent, who portrayed Horace Slughorn, will be on the show this year.)
A full list of the nominees can be found on Variety‘s website. The 74th annual Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, January 8, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Hosting this year’s show is comedian Jimmy Fallon, who previously hosted the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards.
