Meeting Harry Potter Is the Main Focus of Woody Harrelson’s “Lost in London Live”
I think it’s safe to say that after the events of a rather unpredictably insane night in London on June 7, 2002, Woody Harrelson never thought he would be live streaming a production about how he fought tooth and nail to be able to meet Harry Potter with his family the next morning. The actor is known for his roles on Cheers (Woody Boyd) and The Hunger Games (Haymitch Abernathy), as well as being slated for the upcoming Han Solo movie in the Star Wars universe. Understandably, when the story of his drunken misadventures hit the pavement, the last thing one might have expected was to get an entire account of the story in movie format.
Well, that’s exactly what happened. Lost in London Live aired on Thursday, January 19, 2017.

The entire debacle sets off after an alleged marital indiscretion about Harrelson hits the tabloids. His wife becomes understandably upset, but instead of sticking around to sort the issue out entirely, Harrelson flees to the familiar comforts of partying out with his friends. As one thing leads to another, Harrelson realizes that he promised his family that they would meet Daniel Radcliffe, or “the famous Harry Potter” (as his kids knew him), on set at 7:30 a.m. sharp the next day.
From this point on, it’s a race against the clock to make sure he gets to where he needs to be. He runs into Owen Wilson, breaks an ashtray in a cab, flees from the police, and even tries to smooth talk his way out of jail with his celebrity card, going so far as to ask the officer if he’d like to take his disabled son to see Harry Potter and “Bumbledore.?”
Lost in London Live the first attempt of a live movie production. The achievement was really due to 14 filming locations around London and hundreds of crew members in the early hours of Friday morning, streaming directly into theaters across America.
Daniel Radcliffe’s rather adorable account of his side of the story was a pre-taped segment shown after the film’s conclusion in which he recalled how it felt, being 12 or 13 at the time and excited to meet “famous people.” After hearing of Harrelson’s activities beforehand, though, Radcliffe recalled, “The genuine reaction around the set was, ‘Did Woody Harrelson just come and use the Harry Potter set for a safe house for a day, and was he just coming here to hide out?’ Which, it turns out, wasn’t the case, but if it had been, a pretty cool thing to do,” as quoted by the Huffington Post.
Cool thing to do, hmm, Potter? Well, it seems that Radcliffe has about as much regard for the rules as his character at times. Radcliffe has worked with Harrelson before on Now You See Me 2.
