UPDATED: Warwick Davis Is Returning to a Galaxy Far, Far Away
UPDATE July 27:
We have learned that in addition to previously known returns to the Star Wars franchise, Warwick Davis will also be featured in the still untitled Han Solo film, set before the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. What part he will play is still unclear (still no news on Ewoks!), but it seems both Davis and director Ron Howard are excited to be working together again.
Though Harry Potter fans know Warwick Davis as Griphook, Flitwick, and a fan event favorite guest, one of his earliest roles was in another popular franchise: Star Wars. Originally appearing as Wicket the Ewok – and later as a variety of other characters – Davis has been a staple in the galaxy far, far away.
At the recent celebration of Star Wars in Orlando, Florida, it was revealed that Davis would be taking another intergalactic role: in Star Wars Rebels! Davis will voice a character called Rukh, a bodyguard for evil Grand Admiral Thrawn with assassination on his mind. The new season of Star War Rebels will premiere on Disney XD this fall.
Additionally, IMDb currently lists Davis as returning in the upcoming film Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. There is no character listed, and Davis himself isn’t saying much, but with his previous appearances, it’s sure to be a great performance (perhaps even the return of the Ewoks?)!
We’re ready to pull out our lightsabers and watch Davis in these new roles! Will you be tuning in to Star Wars Rebels? What role do you think Davis could be playing in Episode VIII? Let us know in the comments.
