Castium Revelio: Magical Vegans and Where to Find Them
It seems to be a slow week for our Casting News column, so we’re going to keep it short and sweet! Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas) is once again taking to the stage. It was announced this week that he has joined the stage cast of Red, a play that follows abstract artist Mark Rothko and his young assistant, Ken. Enoch is set to portray Ken in the production, which is scheduled to premiere on May 4, 2018, at the Wyndham Theatre, with lighting from Cursed Child‘s Neil Austin. Tickets are available for purchase here. Rumor has it that Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) is in talks to reunite with his Theory of Everything co-star Felicity Jones in a new film for Amazon, based on a true story, called The Aeronauts. If these rumors are true, filming will begin next spring in London, with Redmayne starring as scientist James Glaisher, who, along with air balloon pilot Amelia Wren, attempts to discover the secrets of the heavens and ends up flying higher than anyone else ever has in a hot air balloon. This month, a new book about veganism from Veganuary will be published and will feature a foreword from Potter actress and Veganuary ambassador Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood). How to Go Vegan will launch on December 28, and the focus of the book is to help those who are interested in becoming vegan and make the transition easy and fun. The book is available for pre-order via Amazon. Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) is set to receive an award from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards (MUAHS) this February in Los Angeles. The actor will receive the Distinguished Artisan Award, which is “given to those whose body of work in the film industry was richly enhanced by the consistent collaboration of make-up and hair styling artistry creating memorable characters throughout their career.” Susan Cabral-Ebert, President of MUAHS, had this to say of Oldman’s work with MUAHS throughout his career:
Gary is known as a chameleon, an actor who changes his appearance, his voice, everything about himself from film to film. He has worked with the finest artisans in the world, he collaborates with the team and probably knows more about make-up and hair than any other actor. When you consider the hundreds and hundreds of hours he has spent allowing us to transform him, we are delighted to present him with our Distinguished Artisan Award to show our appreciation.
Previous honorees have included Ron Perlman (Gnarlack, Fantastic Beasts) and Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald, Fantastic Beasts). Congrats on this honor, Gary! That wraps up this week’s shorter-than-usual Casting News! Check back with us next week to find out all the latest projects and appearances in progress by current and former wizarding world cast members!
