May’s World of Wizardry box from Geek Gear has arrived, and we have yet another three boxes to give away to three lucky readers!
This month, we saw a change in the appearance of the boxes. Gone is Newt’s old-timey Newtcase, and in its place is a colorful box that represents the House of your choice. The outside colors are vibrant and match the inside tissue paper. Check out our video review and then click each individual review to see what our staff thought about the contents of this month’s boxes!
Included in each monthly box are:
- 1 wizarding world-themed T-shirt
- 1 exclusive print
- 4 other wizarding world-themed and officially licensed products
Aimee's Review: May's Slytherin Box
I was surprised to see the box itself had changed this month since I had gotten used to seeing Newt's briefcase when I opened my subscription packaging. Instead, my box was a bright green to indicate that it was full of Slytherin delights.
To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with this month's box. While I am a Slytherin through and through, the Death Eater scarf and cushion cover are so not my style. The wand also didn't seem as impressive as the others - mine seemed to have been painted only halfway.
What I did love about this box were the two new recipe cards and the exclusive Luna Lovegood print. Luna is one of my favorite characters, and having such a quality print of the character in one of the best costumes designed for the film series is a complete win for me!
Lizzie's Review: May's Gryffindor Box
I am really loving the wand collection that I am building up from these Geek Gear boxes. Not only are they beautiful and really well made - the weighting is perfect - but they're also unique! I need to find a way to display them because they NEED to be seen!
I also love the House pride and get super excited each time to see what Gryffindor goodies are inside. It's really great to have new items that aren't available from anywhere else and it makes each box feel personal.
Megan's Review: May's Slytherin Box
I was excited about the House colors box. Overall, I enjoyed this box, even though it wasn't quite as exciting as some of the others. The wands continue to amaze me as far as quality goes. I have so many wands to choose from when I go to Potter parties now! The T-shirts are always fantastic as well. I sort of wish there was something making it more obvious that this shirt is a Hedwig shirt, because it does just sort of look like a nice shirt with an owl on it. But the owl itself is very beautiful.
I really love the Death Eater masks - I think they're beautiful. So I was really excited about the pillowcase and scarf.
If I had to pick one thing that I dislike about these boxes, it would probably be the recipe cards. It's a cute idea, and I'm sure lots of people use them, but I personally am not a baker or chef of any kind, so I don't see myself using these cards often, if at all.
