“Crimes of Grindelwald” Cast Talk Wizarding World Favorites
Ever wanted to know which wizarding world phrase is Eddie Redmayne’s (Newt Scamander) favorite? How about which magical invention Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein) would like to have? The cast of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss all things wizarding world related.
When choosing their favorite magical sayings, Eddie Redmayne jumped straight in with the useful immobilizing spell “Petrificus Totalus.” Katherine Waterston chose one of Tina’s lines from the first film, “Mister Scamander!” before remembering that this was the line from the trailer “when everybody thought that [she] was Maggie Smith.”
Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange) chose one of our favorite wizarding world words, “Muggle,” and Ezra Miller gave an adorable reason for his choice:
I really like actually becoming afraid of things and then pointing at them with either a twig or a chopstick or my finger and saying ‘Riddikulus!’
We’re not saying that we try to use “Accio” to find the TV remote, but we definitely understand Ezra’s reasoning! Check out some of the rest of the cast’s choices in the video below.
In Entertainment Weekly‘s second video, Nifflers were the popular choice for which magical creature the cast would have as a pet, with only Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore) voting for Bowtruckles. There was a brief discussion about the benefits of dragons as pets from Callum Turner (Theseus Scamander), but ultimately, the adorable Nifflers won the hearts of the cast.
When asked “What wizarding world invention would you most want to use in real life?,” Eddie and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) hinted at a potentially comedic scene from Crimes of Grindelwald that involved “blow-dry wand.” Sticking with the theme of useful everyday magic, Katherine said what everyone has been thinking since the first movie: “I still feel like cooking dinner with a wand is dope.”
Watch the video below to find out which wizarding world characters the cast would like to play other than their own and which book and movie is their favorite from the Potter series.
