“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Releases Its First Friday Forty Tickets in Australia
Australian Potterheads are kicking the year off with a bang. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is premiering in Melbourne in less than two weeks, and with some of the main cast members of the production recently revealed, the excitement must surely be running high.
This coming Friday, the production will release its first 40 tickets at $40 apiece, known as the Friday Forty, for the first performance taking place on January 18. The winners are assured of some of the best seats in the house. Those lucky enough to see the production will also be treated to the beauty of the newly restored Princess Theatre, which received a makeover
Keeping in mind that the Friday Forty lottery was a tradition that started in London, it is good to see it spilling over to shows in other countries. Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender have emphasized how important it is for them to make the production accessible to as many people as possible.
Tickets to the play can often sell quite far in advance. We’ve seen wonderful excitement in London and New York when theatregoers find out they’ve won tickets for the Friday Forty for the following week’s performances and only have to wait a few days to see the show. We’re thrilled to continue this initiative in Australia.

The Friday Forty is open every Monday from 12:01 a.m. AEDT until Friday at 1:00 p.m. AEDT for the performances of the following week. Fans can enter via Cursed Child’s official website, TodayTix’s website, or the TodayTix app. Once you entered, keep your eyes and ears on your cell phone or computer since you will be notified if you’re a winner between 1:00 p.m. AEDT and 5:00 p.m. AEDT every Friday.
If you receive the glorious news that you’re a winner, you have one hour to complete your purchase. You will only pay $80 for the whole production ($40 per part) per person, which means you’ll have a reserved seat for Part One and Part Two in consecutive performances. Once you’ve purchased your tickets, all that’s left to do is to grab them from the box office on the day of the production.
