John Williams Will Conduct His Music During New World Symphony’s Gala
John Williams has created some of the most iconic music of all time, and he’s recently been busy with the music for the next Star Wars film. That music is either done or he’s taking a break, because Williams will appear at New World Symphony’s gala on March 2 in Miami Beach, Florida.
The gala, called A Celebration of John Williams, will feature Williams’ work and will be conducted by Williams himself, as well as Michael Tilson Thomas and Sarah Hicks.
The concert will take place Saturday, March 2 at 7:45 p.m. and will be screened to the public as part of the center’s SoundScape Cinema Series. New World Center screens concerts and films at SoundScape Park. These events are free and involve “striking use of visual and audio technology on the soaring, 7,000-square-foot projection wall of the New World Center.”
Ordinarily, the SoundScape Cinema Series does not include concerts before the films, which are included in WALLCAST® Concerts. The center is making an exception for the gala, which will be screened live on Saturday. The concert will be followed by a screening of Jurrasic Park (for which, of course, John Williams wrote the music).
If you’re in the area and cannot get a ticket to the gala, you can attend the free screening event at New World Center. Bring a blanket and a friend! Seeing Williams conduct his own music is a wonderful treat, and this concert is sure to delight.
